“Babies only cry if they are hungry, need changing, or need to be picked up”

Lies

Babies (and small children) also cry for reasons such as:

1. “I am tired and that makes me angry”

2. “I scared myself with a fart”

3. “You are the wrong parent”

4. “I ran into something with my face”

5. “I’m facing the opposite direction then the one I want to”

6. “I fell asleep in one place and woke up somewhere completely different”

7. “I am a very small person in a very big world”

8. “I got scared because YOU farted”

Babies have more then 3 states of being and sometimes you just have to hold them and bounce them gently while saying solemnly “yes it is very hard to be a baby” because frankly it is

i hate it when game devs put “fixed several issues” in patch notes

no. tell me what you fixed. i wanna know what the glitch was.

you know those patch notes that are like “fixed an issue where if the player sat in a bush for too long, they’d become the size of a skyscraper”

i wanna read those. tell me those.

I start to wonder whether things like phantom limb syndrome are the result of God implementing a hasty patch on the world.

Anonymous asked: Do you have an tips on writing characters with disabilities? I have two characters, one completely blind and one partially deaf.. I'm just scared to accidentally have cliches or something that's not accurate.

thecaffeinebookwarrior:

First and foremost, I would recommend talking to and/or reading as many books by blind and deaf people as possible, in order to get a look at as diverse and array of experiences as possible.

As someone who is neither blind nor deaf, my ability to provide advice is severely limited.  However, I do have some great and helpful resources for you to check out:

Here is an Absolute Write thread on writing deaf dialogue.

Here is a short masterpost on writing deaf characters.

Here is a post on writing dialogue with signing characters.

Here is a respected (deaf) author’s advice on writing deaf characters.

And here is one more post on writing dialogue between deaf characters.

And some resources for blind characters:

The 33 Worst Mistakes Writers Make About Blind Characters.

@referenceforwriters masterpost of resources for writing/playing blind characters.

The youtube channel of the wonderful Tommy Edison, a man blind from birth with great insight into the depiction of blind people and their lives.

An Absolute Write thread on the depiction of blind characters, with lots of different viewpoints and some great tips.

And finally, this short, handy masterpost of resources for writing blind characters.

I hope this helps, and happy writing!  <3

A part of being an adult is living with regret and not allowing it to consume you. The older you get, the more mistakes you’ve made, opportunities you’ve missed, people you’ve disappointed. And every day you have to remind yourself to be kind and forgiving of yourself. You accept and love the you from the past and understand that it’s all a part of the process. Then you move on and live your best life, knowing now as old as you feel today, you’ll never be this young again.

Sometimes you gotta look at something you just drew and say “Wow. I’m the artist I wanted to be a few years ago. There’s a new artist I want to be now, but I made it this far.”

And that’s a beautiful thing.

butchwookiee:

the reason lesbians are Like That is bc admitting your attraction to another woman is literally a safety risk, also we know what it’s like to be on the receiving end of unwanted attraction (from men), also we have the trope of the predatory lesbian constantly weighing on our minds, also we usually see no role models depicted in media or irl of what it is we’re supposed to DO, also a lot of us have the experience of growing up with hostility or at the very least alienation from other women which also affects our ability to trust both our own instincts & what other women are telling us about their feelings, also we have like a million other people to think about (your parents, your friends, HER parents, HER friends) every time we even think of approaching a relationship, & on top of THAT we have regular old fear of rejection like straight people have, so like. yeah we’re useless but don’t be so hard on yourselves bc there is literally so much we have to deal with! but also being able to joke about it with other lesbians is a good way to recognize that We Are All Suffering so maybe we dont feel so alone in our absolute patheticness
